Boxer Dmitry Dvali may lose an eye after he, his brother and their cornerman saved a young man being beaten by a group of men in Crimea in July.
At least nine people have been reported arrested and Russian boxer Dmitry Dvali, 23, seriously injured after a brawl broke out in the Crimean city of Feodosia. according to According to Russian media, Dvali had been visiting the area for a boxing master class and was enjoying a morning run with his brother Yuri and his cornerman when he came across a group of men brutally beating a young man. The three men rushed in to try and protect him but were themselves assaulted, with Mr Dvali suffering from blunt force trauma, reports said.

“Dmitry and his coach tried to protect the boy but suffered serious injuries themselves. Dvali suffered a fractured orbital bone, [cornerman] “Yevgeny suffered a broken arm,” local media reported, SI reported. The attack left Dvali unconscious and he was subsequently beaten by the group, leaving him with a fractured nose and eye socket and medical professionals desperately trying to save his eye.
His brother appears to be uninjured apart from cuts and bruises. Dvali is a world boxing medalist, military world champion and Russian youth champion. He is also the 2024 European champion.
