Fort Mojave, Arizona – A large blue door welcomed guests and donors to the brand new Robert P. Swartzman chapter of the Boys & Girls Club on the Colorado River on Saturday, February 25th. The CEO of Autumn Boyle Robinson kicked off the event by walking down memory lane. The organization has been servicing the Fort He Mojave area for the past six years, moving from rental space to rental space in an attempt to find a “home.”
After researching both existing buildings and vacant lots, I looked for a property on the corner of La Requiza Rd. And the Aztec Road was purchased. The $2,100,000 project includes a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse, 60,000-square-foot lawn, 5,000-square-foot sports court, and 2,500-square-foot playground.
Saturday’s event spotlighted the hard work and contributions of foundations, businesses, clubs and individuals. The five largest donors are: The BHHS Legacy Foundation donated her over $925,000 to the project and volunteered countless hours. Followed by over $325,000 Fiesta Bowl Charities, $250,000 Halle Foundation, Boys & Girls Club Thrift Stores donated $140,000 and he donated $100,000 from Mohave County’s ARPA Fund directed by Supervisor Ron Gould .
Crowds of about 200 gathered across the state and across the river, celebrating donors of all levels. Each donor was recognized for their time and contribution and presented with a valuable piece of “art for children” as a token of appreciation. Overwhelming themes are the generosity of the community as a whole and its willingness to put its heart and soul into worthy projects such as the Boys & Girls Club.
An organization came out as the club was officially dedicated to Robert P. Swartzman. Bob’s daughters were presented with commemorative jars filled with “thank yous” from the children. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to become productive, caring and responsible citizens.
