Brasfield & Gorrie Expands Birmingham Headquarters
This week, Brasfield & Gorrie, a general contractor, announced a three-story, 28,500-square-foot expansion next to its current headquarters in Birmingham’s Lakeview district.
The $18.9 million investment has already resulted in 64 new jobs for the city. This growth project was introduced in January 2024.
“I fully support the company’s growth and our commitment to Birmingham, where we’ve been since 1964,” CEO Rob Blalock stated.
“We are investing in a community that hosts 13 offices across eight states. It’s crucial to show our dedication to our hometown,” he added.
The Birmingham, Jefferson County, and Alabama support has been vital to the project’s realization, according to the company.
This investment is part of a broader plan, aiming to create 85 jobs at the headquarters within five years. Impressively, Brasfield & Gorrie is already ahead of schedule, with 75% of these roles filled.
“We’re a fantastic place to work,” remarked Ellen McNair, secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce.
“This expansion not only signifies the company’s long-term goals and commitment to its team but also reinforces Birmingham’s status as a center for talent and innovation in the construction industry,” she continued.
Pylon Building Group, a subsidiary of Brasfield & Gorrie, spearheaded the construction of the project.
The Birmingham headquarters, which supports 1,400 employees, is a key element of the company’s anticipated growth in line with their strategic plan.
Brasfield & Gorrie operates across eight states and has a workforce exceeding 4,100.
Among their recent projects in Alabama are the new biotechnology center for Southern Research and renovations at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, along with various Airbus facilities and contributions to HudsonAlpha.
The expansion reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to both the community and its employees.
Recently, Brasfield & Gorrie also opened a new 9,650-square-foot training center in Birmingham, designed to offer classes and training for employees eager to advance, ensuring that anyone motivated can learn the necessary skills regardless of their background.
