Gila County, Arizona (3TV/CBS 5) – The Gila County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the importance of not crossing flooded roads. This was after a man had to be rescued by helicopter from a car in the Tonto Basin. With so many rescues and deaths in the area, what is being done to solve this problem?
More than 1,000 people are affected when Tonto Creek floods. Many are forced to stay where they are or drive 40 miles to avoid flood waters. But now there is hope that things will get better.
Ann intense video Outside the Tonto Basin, DPS Rangers are using a helicopter to rescue a man trapped in a truck. He got stuck yesterday after running around Tonto his creek barricade. The water level was up to his truck window.
The Gila County Sheriff’s Office took to social media to remind people not to cross flooded washrooms or drive around barricades. Unfortunately, it is. In 2019, authorities said a family ignored signs that the road was closed but tried to cross it, resulting in the washing away of her three children, Austin, Colby and Willa, all under the age of 6. . Another man said he was found dead 20 miles north a week ago after trying to cross a stream.
“How much is too much? How many lives does it take before this is the necessary monetary value?” An Arizona family previously reported that Rep. David Cook is fighting to add a bridge to the area. Cook hopes the $26 million bridge to safely cross the creek will be completed within his year. “There will always be a small group of people who don’t want the bridge or any more growth in the area, etc., but the ship has sailed. “What will be our responsibility as civil servants? Let’s educate and keep people safe in our communities,” Cook said.
The rescued man received a summons from the sheriff’s office. A heavy rain warning has been issued for heavy rain tonight. Many low-water intersections are flooded and impassable.
