U.S. Senator Katie Britt believes the Senate needs to be more informed about the growing national security threat posed by ISIS.
Senator Britt (R-Montgomery), along with Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), in a letter to Senators Chuck Schumer (R-New York) and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), requested a classified briefing for all members of Congress on the growing threat to the homeland from radical Islamic terrorist groups, including ISIS-K, an offshoot of ISIS that is primarily active in Afghanistan.
The concerns arise following a recent terrorist attack at a concert hall in Moscow, Russia, that killed more than 130 people and was claimed by ISIS-K.
Senators also worry about the threat posed by a wide open border.
The southern border is a national security nightmare.
The US withdrawal from Afghanistan was a disaster, turning the region once again into a haven for terrorists.

“As many experts have warned, U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan has created new threats and once again turned the country into a haven and base of operations for terrorist groups,” the letter said. “Our nation cannot continue to persist with a policy of inaction against these threats.”
The senators listed some of the recent attacks by terrorist groups.
“ISIS-K's recent attacks further highlight their capability to carry out attacks around the world,” they said. “Their activities include a suicide bombing in Iran in January 2024 and a massacre at a Moscow concert hall in March. Additionally, planned ISIS-K attacks against civilians in Germany and the Netherlands were also thwarted. It is clear that ISIS-K remains capable and willing to carry out attacks around the world, including against the United States.”
“Given this concern, we request a classified briefing for all members on the growing threat from radical Islamic terrorist groups to homeland and overseas targets, as well as an update on the Biden Administration's future capabilities and strategy for Afghanistan no later than April 18, 2024.”
