The veteran driver topped his heap of points after sweeping his season-opening main event at Kokopa Speedway at the end of January.
A native of Garden Grove, California, Lore knows the track an hour south of Phoenix. He has raced there many times over the years in his 360 and 410 sprint cars. His last 410 appearances came in 2019 when he was crowned series champion in the now-defunct USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series. In his three races that year he achieved his 4th-place finish once at the track where he finished 1st, 3rd and 1st. At 360 Action, Lore took victory in his first CAS sprint his car his race held at the track on September 6, 2020, in Jason May’s #8M.
“Brad Whitfield took it over,” Lore said of the new Central Arizona Raceway promoter. I know it’s going to be really racy when you slick off so I hope he doesn’t touch it too much especially in 3 and 4 it really starts to peak no peak it You have to have a lot of patience at the top so you don’t get over. That’s what I’ve always liked about the place.3 and 4.
“1 and 2 are very narrow and have a lot of banks,” Roa continued. “You just bury it in there. Too much bank and the car sucks into the track. It’s like when you were running a wing car. 3 and 4 is like Driver’s End.” I hope he doesn’t change too much on the edge of the racetrack, so round and with so many banks, I’m not sure there’s a place here (California) that can match it. ”
Roa has maintained a 14-point lead in this weekend’s race and he is very happy after the first two races on the DRC chassis. Until January he had never driven his DRC. At Cocopa, the car and driver play together. In addition to taking first prize money in both main events there, he won each heat race. In qualifying, he was his third on night one and his eighth on night two.
When asked if he made any changes to the DRC chassis in preparation for the Casa Grande track, Lore laughed, “No.” “We took it apart and replaced the engine. We had to put a second engine in for this race. We were really lucky to finish like we did in Cocopa with the first engine, which was pretty disappointing for Tom and Christie (team owners Tom and Christie Dunkel), but at least we got the win. was made.”
