Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to announce the Northern Arizona premiere of “Van Gogh: Brush with Genius,” screening June 29-July 4 at the Alice Gill Sheldon and Mary D. Fisher Theatres.
“Van Gogh: A Brush of Genius” is a big-screen film depicting the life and paintings of Vincent van Gogh. Filmed entirely in France and the Netherlands on 15/70mm, “Van Gogh” showcases the breathtaking landscapes and extraordinary colors of the artist's most famous works for the first time with the visual wonder of the film medium on the giant screen.
Created by Peter Knapp and François Bertrand, with the support of the Van Gogh Museum, the Musée d'Orsay and the Kröller-Müller Museum, “Van Gogh” traces the artist's remarkable journey, from his first paint on canvas at age 27 to the masterpieces he created before his tragic death at age 37.
Told through the eyes of Van Gogh and based on over 900 personal letters, the film transforms the work of the world's most popular artist, who produced over 900 paintings in a shockingly short nine-year career, into an all-new entertainment experience.
“Van Gogh” follows in Vincent Vincent's footsteps as it travels from the Netherlands to Auvers-sur-Oise, Arles, Saint-Rémy and Paris. From the dazzling yellow of Van Gogh's famous cornfields to the deep blue of the starry night sky, visitors will rediscover the sources of some of the most important works in art history.
“Van Gogh: A Brushstroke of Genius” will run from June 29 to July 4 at the Alice Gill Sheldon and Mary D. Fisher Theatres. Show times are Saturday, June 29 at 3:30 pm, Sunday, June 30 at 6:30 pm, Monday and Wednesday, July 1 and 3 at 7 pm, and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 2, 3 and 4 at 4 pm.
Tickets are $12, or $9 for festival members. For tickets or more information, call 928-282-1177. Both the theater and festival offices are at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A in West Sedona. For more information, visit the website at Sedona Film Festival.
