Buckmasters Expo Celebrates 30 Years in Montgomery
The Buckmasters Expo is gearing up for its 30th year at the Montgomery Convention Center, set to take place from August 15th to 17th. This event, sponsored by Mountain Dew, has become a major highlight for outdoor enthusiasts in the Southeast, promising an exciting weekend for families with a showcase of top hunting gear, outdoor entertainment, and a range of activities.
With over 300 booths, attendees can explore an extensive array of hunting and outdoor products. There are hands-on demonstrations and special offers that make it a prime destination for those who love the outdoors. It’s fascinating how these expos really bring the community together.
Special celebrity guests will be attending, including Macy Watkins, Ally and Cody Hall, and the famous Bama Grill Master, Tim Vandoren. Their presence adds a fun layer to the event, though, to be honest, I wonder how many folks are really there to see them versus checking out the gear.
The Expo opens on Friday, August 15th, from 3 PM to 8 PM, continuing Saturday, August 16th, from 10 AM to 5 PM, and then wraps up on Sunday, August 17th, from 9 AM to 5 PM. Each night, there’s a professional bull riding show, which, I think, is a unique touch that adds some excitement!
Entry is almost free—there’s just a small donation of a canned item and a dollar to support the Friendship Mission and the Salvation Army. It’s nice to see events like this giving back while also providing entertainment.
Highlights from the Expo include:
- Top Bow Indoor Archery Tournament
- Young Bucks Ballroom—kids can enjoy activities like mechanical bulls, face painting, and even get some Italian ice.
- Free antler scoring by certified scorers, which could be quite useful.
- A complimentary ride along the Harriot II River on the Alabama River.
- Local food trucks and vendors will also be available, adding some delicious options to the mix.
Several sponsors back this event, including the US Army, Alabama Power, and Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Montgomery, among others. It’s nice to see such community support for an event that brings so many people together.
