Bullhead City man faces 10 years in prison and life probation for downloading and possessing child pornography on his mobile phone. David Hoyos, 50, pleaded guilty Thursday to two of his charges reduced to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.
Six counts of sexual exploitation of minors were dismissed in a deal entered into by Mojave County Deputy Attorney James Shopman and public defender Paul Amann.
Hoyos was arrested last June in an investigation resulting from cyberspace surveillance conducted by the Task Force on Internet Crimes Against Children. Officers issuing a search warrant at his Hoyos home at 232 Willowood Lane detained him and transferred him to Kingman’s Adult Detention Center.
Shopman told Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle that Hoyos pleaded guilty to possessing images or depictions of sexual acts committed by minors on adults. seeks to impose a 10-year prison sentence followed by life probation and a sex offender registration requirement.
A verdict is scheduled for May 19.
