BULLHEAD CITY – A civilian was injured as Bullhead City police engaged in a shootout with barricaded targets on Friday night, January 27.
The shooting victim was last reported to be in stable condition at the Las Vegas hospital where he is being treated, according to police spokeswoman Emily Frommert.
No word yet on how the incident began, but Frommert said the ordeal unfolded at Silver Creek in Bullhead City and the Silverview RV Resort on Gold Rush Road.
Fromelt said an unidentified armed male suspect was taken into custody as he emerged from a trailer after a seven-and-a-half-hour standoff with police.
“The suspect opened fire on the police several times and some officers shot,” Frommert said in a Facebook post. “One of the bullets fired by the suspect reportedly penetrated a nearby trailer and hit an innocent bystander.”
No officers were injured.
Further details will be announced at some point from the Lake Havasu City Police Department.
Because this was a police-involved shooting, the agency plans to conduct an independent investigation, which is standard procedure for shootings.
