PHOENIX – Arizona Public Safety officials arrested a California woman in late June for driving with more than 100 pounds of drugs, according to a statement on Friday.
The Arizona federal attorney’s office announced last week that 34-year-old Martha Angulo was charged with drug possession.
Police said she was caught driving on Interstate 8 in Yuma County on June 29.
A DPS officer stopped her while she was driving. They found 90 hidden packages inside Anglo’s car. the announcement said.
California woman could get heavy prison sentence
According to the Arizona federal prosecutor’s office, an official field inspection found the packages contained both methamphetamine and cocaine.
Both of these charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, according to the announcement.
In addition, these crimes carry fines of up to $1 million and lifelong supervised release.
Angulo is said to have had 112.8 pounds of methamphetamine and about 3 pounds of cocaine. Angulo, a Torrance native, had plans to distribute both drugs in Arizona, the release claims.
