Visitors to Lake Havasu City will see a number of Chevrolet Camaros this Saturday.
Now in its 14th year, Camaro on the Bridge is once again taking guests on a journey across London Bridge. The event, organized by organizer Nick Hill, is known for attracting local car enthusiasts.
With Hill in charge of the event, it has been possible to continue the tradition. For the past four years, Hill said, car enthusiasts have flocked to Havasu under his direction.
“This event is really cool. Mohave County is a huge automotive community,” Hill said. “It's been going on for so long. It would just be a shame to let it die.”
An estimated 106 cars passed over the iconic landmark last year, Hill said. Hill, president of the Camaro Club of Arizona, explains that members of the group typically participate in this ride frequently.
Drivers who wish to participate can register for $50 on Friday. A pre-registration parking lot party will be held at Hampton Inn. Interested Camaro owners can join Saturday's cruise at 3 p.m., Hill added. You can also register through the club's official website.
The Saturday morning drivers' meeting begins at 8:30am. Participants will meet at the Hampton Inn and receive information about Saturday's ride. Immediately after the information session, your trip to London Bridge and the island will begin.
Spectators can arrive at London Bridge between 9:30am and 10am. After the ride, participants will drive to Hooch's 66 Bar and Grill in Topoc. The Camaro-only car show provides additional viewing opportunities for the traveling audience.
“I've been getting calls from Havas a lot lately. People are excited,” Hill said. “It's mainly a thankless job of organizing a trip around the island and getting all the people together in the same place. It was really important to me to do that again this year.”
Hampton Inn is located at 245 London Bridge Road. Hooch's 66 Bar and Grill is located at 5035 E. Powell Lake Road in Topock.
