With this acquisition, Thomas made history as the owner and operator of Arizona’s first black women’s clinic and the first to become a multistate operator (MSO), with a Las Cruces, New Mexico license in her portfolio. became one of the women of color in The Safford Clinic, which she plans to open on April 20, 2023, will be located at her former Natural Remedy Patient Center clinic at 1362 W. “It was my dream to become Arizona’s first black woman-owned clinic. I am looking forward to being part of the community there,” said Thomas.
Thomas was recently named one of the Top 30 Women in Arizona Cannabis. AZ Big MediaIn 2016, she entered the cannabis industry with just one product: a bar of CBD-infused soap. In December, she opened a licensed dispensing and manufacturing facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Thomas, a former nurse, stresses that she self-funds her surgery. “It was very important to me that she didn’t settle for being an investor and that she followed her own dreams,” she said.
As a community-forward entrepreneur, Thomas self-funds the nonprofit Start Living Inc. The organization helps people who have been affected by alcohol and drug abuse successfully reintegrate into society. Fourtwenty Collections offers in-house employment opportunities for Start Living Inc. program graduates after completing the course. Details are still being worked out, but Thomas and her team plan to bring their spirit of giving back to Safford her community.
The BIPOC women’s stats in the cannabis industry are staggering. Black entrepreneurs make up less than 2% of her domestic cannabis businesses, and only 20% of her cannabis businesses are owned by women.
An industry pioneer, Thomas isn’t fooled by statistics because Fourtwenty Collections is a 100% black, women-owned business. “I started my own business in soap to help a friend with a skin condition. To this day, helping others is my mission and it’s my personal and professional life.” It’s been the key to our success,” she said.
Those who know Thomas say nothing can stop her. “Her determination knows no bounds,” says Parisa Rad, president of Fourtwenty Collections.
