‘Catfish’ Host Nev Schulman Posts Images And Video Of Gruesome Injuries After Breaking His Neck

“Catfish” host Nev Shulman has shared videos and images of the injuries he suffered after a horrific accident left him nearly paralyzed.

The famous TV host revealed to his fans and followers that he broke his neck in a cycling accident, telling them he's “blessed to be here.” He explained that he went fishing with his family on Sunday, but his life changed dramatically the next day. “Monday was not that day. Monday was the day I learned what 'pre-accident' really means. And Monday made me realize how lucky I was to have Sunday in the first place,” Shulman wrote on his Instagram page. “As they say, life can change in an instant.”

Schulman detailed his experience, documenting his painful injuries. X-rays showed damage to his neck, and additional photos taken at the hospital showed fresh, red incisions at the base of his neck after the medical procedure. Schulman's face was covered in blood, and hospital video footage showed him struggling to get out of bed with the collar still on.

Photos show damage to his helmet, which likely took the brunt of the blow and played a life-saving role.

“I couldn't ride my bike to pick up my son from school. In fact, in a way, I'm glad I didn't. I was alone when it hit. Just me and the truck,” he said. “And then I probably fell on the sidewalk. I was alone and unconscious. And then I regained consciousness. Maybe I was OK (not). Maybe I could do a long run on Thursday (not).”

“I broke my neck. C5 and C6 to be exact. It's a stable fracture. I'm not paralyzed. I lost the use of my hands for a while but the human body is incredible. And so are humans,” he wrote.

Shulman did not provide any further information about the accident.

He went on to thank the medical professionals who immediately began treating him and shared humble words about his new outlook on life.

“It's hard to feel sorry for yourself when doctors tell you so many people have suffered similar injuries and will never walk again,” Shulman said.

“I am blessed to be alive, to stand and hug my family, with the prospect of a full recovery in sight, and truly beginning to understand the meaning of gratitude — for all the big things and little things before the accident, and now for all the progress I'm making,” Shulman wrote.
