Hanson Discusses Democratic Challenges on Fox News
Victor Davis Hanson made an appearance on Fox News this Thursday, addressing the Democratic Party’s ongoing struggles, particularly within its progressive faction led by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York.
Ocasio-Cortez has emerged as a notable figure within the progressive wing of the Democrats, often referred to as the “squad.” During his segment on “Hannity,” Hanson expressed that the alliance between traditional Democrats and the more radical progressive faction has left them in a difficult position.
“I think they’re trapped by what they’ve created. It’s not moving in a positive direction. It’s a challenging situation for them, especially since Donald Trump seems to be thriving. If he were to calm down, then they might find some peace,” Hanson remarked.
He mentioned an unsettling comparison between the current turmoil within the Democratic Party and the challenges Republicans confronted during the tea party’s ascent in 2010.
“They’re on a wild ride and can’t step off. Those ‘tigers’ represent the extreme elements of AOC’s squad within the party. They are unpredictable and pose real risks,” he added.
Ocasio-Cortez has frequently taken on the Trump administration, particularly criticizing his military actions, such as bombings of Iranian nuclear sites. She labeled these strikes against Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan as significant breaches of presidential authority.
Interestingly, even some Democrats, like Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, have voiced concerns about Ocasio-Cortez’s approach. He stated, “We all recognize it’s not leading anywhere fast. Trump has faced this twice and remains in office, so I’m not convinced this is a productive strategy. Using such terms might overshadow the real issues.”
