DONNEY PARK – One person is dead and another injured in a shooting at Donney Park near Flagstaff.

According to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office, there was a small gathering at a home in North Bryant on January 18 at approximately 11:30 p.m. After the altercation, a neighbor was asked to leave the gathering and did so. , but he returned from his mansion with a handgun.

According to reports, suspect David Navella entered through the front door and shot and killed one person.

“The other two subjects retreated into the bedroom in an attempt to escape the gunman. The gunman followed the two subjects into the bedroom where a struggle for the firearm ensued,” CCSO reported.

Initial reports said that during the struggle, Nabela was shot with his own gun and died at the scene.

The man Nabela allegedly shot was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center by Guardian Medical Transport. He was treated and released later that evening.

Investigation is ongoing.
