Culture Reset
Actress Sidney Sweeney recently highlighted the shift in our cultural landscape with her casual jean advertisements. Amid the noise, someone yelled “Nazi” at her, yet the response was a surge in American Eagle stock prices. It seems that the tides are changing—more celebrities are beginning to reject certain pressures.
Take Chris Pratt, for example. He’s been in a ton of major films and, this week, offered some perspective to the “Never Trump” crowd while appearing on comedian Bill Maher’s podcast. He expressed discomfort with harboring animosity towards the president, admitting that he has a hard time responding to the administration’s successes.
Pratt has faced backlash before—he’s known for his faith, support for law enforcement, and a penchant for wearing Gadsden flag shirts. Despite this, his career has continued to thrive. Recently, he has made it clear he won’t buckle under leftist pressure, which seems to have resulted in a muted reaction compared to prior controversies.
On another note, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson recently dipped his toes into the conversation by retweeting a post from conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. The tweet was straightforward with its message, but critics were quick to respond. Jackson has also navigated tricky questions before, like when he dodged inquiries about his Covid-19 vaccination status in 2021, keeping it a private matter between himself, his family, and his doctors.
What stands out about these three figures is their unwillingness to apologize for simply being themselves. They all reaffirmed that it’s perfectly okay to achieve fame without necessarily aligning with a left-leaning agenda. It might seem like a small gesture, but in a world where many stars fly the flag for various causes, it’s a reassuring reminder— the cultural dominance of the left might not be as impenetrable as some think.
