Cenk Acknowledges That He Was Treated Respectfully at the TPUSA Event

The Young Turks’ Host Comments on Tucker Carlson’s Respectful Treatment

On Tuesday, Cenk Uygur, host of “The Young Turks,” shared that Tucker Carlson, founder of the Daily Caller News Foundation, treated him with respect during a discussion at a Turning Point USA event.

In December 2024, Uygur appeared alongside TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk on the “AmericaFest” stage. The conversation touched on a “populist rebellion” aimed at Democratic leadership. Reflecting on reactions to Kirk’s assassination and the reaction to Carlson’s show, Uygur noted Carlson’s inquiry about how the attendees treated him, before acknowledging his commitment to non-violence.

Uygur expressed gratitude to Carlson for the concern. He explained his experiences at the event, emphasizing a sense of honesty as he spoke. Uygur stated, “I have a simple principle” when engaging with people from the right, suggesting that the right stance includes an anti-war perspective. He commented, “The correct answer is, ‘Oh, thank God.’ It’s all about moving forward.”

Since the assassination of Kirk, many on the left, including educators, faced job losses after expressing celebratory sentiments regarding his death. Some Democrats criticized the murder while also mocking Kirk’s supporters.

Uygur noted the overwhelming positivity he encountered at the event, stating, “The people there were honestly universally wonderful.” He acknowledged the tension between Republicans and Democrats, especially ramping up as the 2024 election cycle unfolded. Corporate media and figures like former Vice President Kamala Harris intensified their rhetoric against Donald Trump, with Harris labeling him a fascist and President Joe Biden suggesting he should be jailed.

A recent poll from Napolitan News Service revealed that 26% of individuals aged 18 to 34 found it difficult to feel compassion in light of Kirk’s death, while 24% of Democrats shared similar sentiments.

Despite some negative feedback from Democrats, TPUSA has reportedly experienced rapid growth, both online and on college campuses. Andrew Corvette, Kirk’s executive producer, mentioned that in just 48 hours, the organization had launched a new chapter with over 32,000 inquiries. Currently, TPUSA boasts 900 official college branches and about 1,200 high schools, totaling a presence of around 3,500 institutions.
