Nearly 200 people attended Thursday’s “Ag Day at the Depot” hosted by the Logan County Chamber of Commerce.

Eleanor Brown, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, called attendees “very remarkable for a first-time event.”

Brown said the event has developed in her mind since joining as director of the Chamber of Commerce. Her original plan was to use only the corner of Front Her Street and Main Her Street in front of the Depot, but once Brown’s planning committee figured it out, she took on a life of her own.

“I want to give a shout out to my neighbors on the block for letting me have this block party,” Brown said. “They were great.”

Logan County Agriculture Department President Don Coley, who served on the planning committee, said the attendees were impressive, especially since the event had to be postponed due to weather.

“Next year will be even bigger and better,” Corey said.

Former Sterling Mayor Dan Torres said the exhibit brought back memories of 22 years of farming in Yuma County.

“You can take the boy off the farm, but you can’t take the farm off the boy,” Torres said.
