Charlamagne Confronts Pete Buttigieg About His Main Issue With Democrats

Charlamagne Tha God Critiques Democrats on The Breakfast Club

During a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, radio host Charlamagne Tha God expressed concerns to former Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg, suggesting that Democrats should have addressed significant issues much earlier. He recalled a July 11 fundraiser where former President Barack Obama urged Democrats to “just strengthen” their resolve, implying it was too late for those actions.

Charlamagne reflected on how Democrats only acknowledged the challenges of an aging leadership, particularly with President Joe Biden, long after the general public had recognized it. He mentioned a Democrat’s thinly veiled admission of the issue, highlighting a communication gap within the party.

“My main issue is that Democrats are often saying what they should have said a few years ago. There’s this perception of cowardice,” he stated. He pointed out that everyone seemed aware that Biden wasn’t the ideal candidate, yet no one voiced those concerns at the right time.

Buttigieg countered Charlamagne’s assertions, claiming that Democrats stick to their policy positions. Nevertheless, he conceded that the party needs to show more “toughness,” similar to Republicans. Buttigieg cited Medicaid as an example of ongoing fights that underscore this need for assertiveness and trustworthiness within the party.

Charlamagne further expressed his frustration, characterizing the Democrats as “co-sick,” which he believed contributed to their failure to urge Biden not to run for re-election. “There are countless instances where Democrats should have stood firm. They should have told Biden he didn’t have to run,” he noted. He was baffled by Obama’s comments from the last decade claiming that Democrats lack courage.

Looking forward, Biden is expected to remain in the race until July 2024, even after facing criticism for his debate performance against Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Speaker Mike Johnson highlighted Biden’s struggles and the implications it has for his party in a recent post.
