One of the early moves of President Trump’s second term was for the federal government to recognize only two genders and sign an executive order that they hadn’t changed,” he continued. “Well, the executive order has been signed. It’s black and white and I don’t know what to do in this situation. It’s all very confused.”
Charlamane was referring to Trump’s executive order entitled “Protecting women from gender ideological extremism and restoring biological truths to the federal government.” The order states that the United States only “recognizes two genders, male and female,” and “has not changed.”
“I’m not really upset with Keith Self for doing what the president told him to do. The reason I’m getting angry is that Keith is giving me the ‘ass of the day’ is because he postponed the session,” the radio host said. “Look, these little culture wars are hurting democracy… They were in the midst of a hearing on arms management and US support for Europe. I know what it is, I think I know what it means.”
“But I know for sure. That panel is more important than whether Sarah McBride is called “Mr.” or “Miss.” Now, Keith Self, you’ve been challenged to call Sarah to him, so there’s no reason to postpone the meeting,” he continued. “When William Keating says, ‘You’re broken down,’ he says, ‘Well, the president signed the executive order, that’s what I’m following.” ”
South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace introduced a resolution in November to ban women’s bathrooms from the Capitol Complex after McBride’s election as the first transgender member of Congress in 2024.
