Charles Payne Chokes Up Live On-Air As He Gives Update On Niece Three Months After Being Shot

Fox Business host Charles Payne got emotional Friday as he gave an update on his niece's recovery three months after she was shot in Harlem, New York.

Payne announced during a segment on “Fox & Friends” on May 22 that her niece underwent four hours of surgery at Harlem Hospital after being wounded in a “random act of violence” earlier that month. The Fox Business host emotionally told viewers Friday that her niece returned to work on Monday for the first time since the shooting.

“I want to thank all of my viewers and everyone on 'X,' formally known as Twitter. My niece was shot three months ago. She had to endure four hours of emergency surgery,” Payne said on “Making Money with Charles Payne,” showing a photo of his niece back at work.

Payne thanked all of the viewers and social media users who sent their condolences after the shooting, and his niece responded to an emotional message he sent on air. “Oh my goodness. I was at work reading this comment and it brought me to tears. This is so touching. Thank you so much. This is so inspiring,” Payne's niece wrote.

Payne first announced his niece's return to work in an “X” post on Tuesday.

“My niece was shot three months ago. [a]enter [a] “It was a random act of violence. She required four hours of emergency surgery to survive. She returned to work yesterday,” Mr Payne said.

A friend of his niece was also shot during the incident, and Payne said The incident was a gang shooting that took place during a “Fox & Friends” broadcast in May.
