Charlie Kirk’s Executive Producer Criticizes AOC, Expressing Hope for Suitable Backlash

Conflict Over Charlie Kirk’s Honors

Andrew Corvette, the executive producer of Turning Point USA, criticized Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during a segment on Fox’s “Ingraham Angle.” This followed Ocasio-Cortez’s stance against a resolution honoring Charlie Kirk, where she referred to him as an “uneducated” and “ignorant” figure.

Ocasio-Cortez, alongside 57 other Democrats, voted against acknowledging Kirk as a “courageous American patriot.” During the discussion, Laura Ingraham asked Corvette if Charlie Kirk had ever invited Ocasio-Cortez on his show. Corvette asserted that Kirk would have valued her insights and described Kirk as a genuinely good person, a devoted father and husband. He expressed disappointment that Congress couldn’t uniformly denounce the circumstances surrounding Kirk’s death, labeling him an “American hero” and icon so connected to history.

“It’s a shame we can’t find agreement on this,” Corvette remarked. He criticized Ocasio-Cortez’s public comments, wishing she would experience similar backlash to what Jimmy Kimmel faced for his statements.

On the congressional floor, Ocasio-Cortez articulated that the honors for Kirk triggered distress among those grappling with America’s past of “segregation, Jim Crow, and prejudice.” She argued that Kirk’s viewpoints harmed millions of Americans rather than promoted unity.

In the wake of Kirk’s assassination, some Republicans condemned Democrats who seemed to celebrate his death. Critics attacked members like Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar for derogatory comments regarding Kirk’s legacy.

Misconduct surrounding the representation of Kirk’s beliefs has resulted in the firing of various individuals, including Washington Post columnist Karen Attia for fabricating quotes and making offensive remarks about black women. Additionally, MSNBC’s Matthew Dowd lost his position after his comments regarding Kirk being “divisive” drew backlash.

Furthermore, Jimmy Kimmel’s show was recently suspended indefinitely following remarks he made that implied the right was attempting to distance itself from Kirk’s attacker.
