Charming Austin suburb is the fastest-growing city in the country, with neighbors close behind

We already know things are changing across Texas, but what about suburbs of Austin? Today, six of the 15 fastest growing cities in the United States are in Texas, and suburbs in the Austin area. In a comprehensive analysis of the 15 largest US cities in 2022, Austin barely made it into the top 10 with a population of 974,447. Her three cities in Texas rank high, with Houston in fourth place with over 2.3 million people, San Antonio in seventh place with over 1.47 million people, and Dallas in ninth place with just under 1.3 million people. . The report also found that the housing inventory surged by 1.6 million units from 2021 to 2022. Texas was the third fastest growing state for housing at 2.3%, while Utah was the fastest growing state at 3.3%. Travis County had the third-fastest home growth rate in the nation, ahead of Maricopa County (second) and Harris County (first) in Arizona.

Austin did not make the list of the top 10 most populous metropolitan areas in the United States (as opposed to the city itself), but Dallas, Fort Worth and Arlington ranked fourth, followed by Houston, Woodlands, Sugar Land ranked first. 5.
