Chicanos Por La Causa hosts 52nd Annual Week of the Young Child

YUMA, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) hosted the 52nd Annual Toddler Week (WOYC) event on Saturday.

The event was held from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on the lawn of the Yuma Heritage Library. There were arts and crafts activities, raffles and other exciting family fun events.

Celebrated during the first week of April, WOYC is in partnership with the Arizona Association for Early Childhood Education (AZAEYC). This was to promote the importance of early childhood education.

Not only that, but several local institutions and schools joined the celebration, including First Things First and Immaculate Conception School.

“We are grateful to all the community agencies…they have come to us for support and appreciation.give thanks to our teachers and [to] It’s about giving our children the education they need,” said CPLC Education Specialist Patricia Miranda.

Toddler Week was first established in 1971 by the National Association for Early Childhood Education (NAEYC), but CPLC has been a part of the celebration for over 20 years. This includes CPLC’s Early Childhood Development Program.
