Child wellness fairs – Yuma Pioneer

The Yuma, Washington, and Kit-Carson County Early Childhood Council (ECCYWK) is working with the Yuma and Washington County Rural Community Resource Centers and the Kit-Carson County Prairie Family Center to provide early childhood community education in Yuma. I received a grant to hold a wellness fair. Washington County and Kit Carson County.

We wanted the fair to be more than just a health fair, but a place for families to connect with organizations and services available locally. At the event, we will exhibit screenings and booths for children from 0 to 5 years old. Each event will provide food and a chance to win door prizes. Participants will receive a book called “Passport to Wellness”. As you visit each booth, your book will be stamped. Each stamp entitles you to a drawing to win 1 of 3 door prizes. They don’t have to exist to win.
The Toddler Community Wellness Fair is held in June from 9am to 3pm. Yuma County will meet on June 3 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Yuma (1101 S. Albany St.). Kit Carson County will meet on June 10 at the Burlington Community Center in Burlington (340 S. 14th St.), and Washington County will meet in Akron in June. 24th, Akron Head Start – 902 E. 1st St. Hearing, visual, dental and developmental screenings will be conducted at each event. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended. To make a reservation, please call Maribel at 970-360-9099.
Head out to the fair, get your little one tested, visit our booth to see the great information and resources available in our community, win door prizes, eat food and have fun.
