A video of a Chinese soccer coach slapping a referee after receiving a red card went viral on social media on Sunday.

Liaoning football team Shenyang reportedly said of the incident, “During the first half of the match, our club’s leader disagreed with the referee’s decision and acted irrationally.” The team also said Singh “violated the CFA League’s disciplinary guidelines.” according to to Reuters. Xing, who reportedly passed out in anger after the incident, apologized to referee Chen Hao after being discharged from the hospital. according to This was reported to Chinese media outlet Sohu. Singh reportedly apologized for his own “irrational” behavior, saying his actions were caused by overexcitement.

“Our club’s management communicated with Xin Duan, who, together with the first team’s management, realized the seriousness of the mistake,” Liaoning Shenyang said after the match, Reuters reported.
