Americans for Prosperity Alabama supports this bill and is excited about the passage of the CHOOSE Act in Alabama.
According to news agency AFP-AL, Secretary of State Adam Thompson said the passage of the bill was momentous and thanked the lawmakers who helped make this moment a reality.
“Every child deserves a fair path to an education that meets their unique needs, and AFP-AL couldn’t be more excited about today’s passage of the CHOOSE Act,” said Thompson. Governor Will Ainsworth, President Pro Tem Greg Reed, Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter, Senator Arthur Orr, Representative Danny Garrett, and members of Congress. We know that education is not a one-size-fits-all model, and that the best solutions in education often do not come from top-down approaches that narrow choices for families. This is an important day for Alabama, and by removing barriers to education with this bill, the future is brighter for our schoolchildren.”
This legislation establishes an education savings account that gives parents of eligible children up to $7,000 in tuition to send their children to private schools if they so choose. However, schools may not enroll children who do not meet the criteria.
