‘Chosen Because She’s Black’: Winsome Sears Scorches Ketanji Brown Jackson Over Affirmative Action Dissent

Republican Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsam Sears on Thursday accused her of dissenting by Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson in one of two lawsuits related to race-based admissions policies.

“What you have is a judge who was chosen because you are black and because you are a woman,” Sears told Fox News host Martha McCallum. (Related article: ‘Bill needs to read more’: Winsome Sears confronts Bill Maher over school drag and transsexuals)

The Supreme Court overturned the University of North Carolina and Harvard’s racially-based admission policies in a 6-3 victory. Ruling 6-2 for North Carolina Ruling Harvard was accused of discriminating against white and Asian applicants in favor of black and Hispanic applicants. Jackson withdrew from the Harvard lawsuit.

Sears turned to education after commenting on Jackson’s appointment by President Joe Biden. Mr. Jackson has drawn criticism for his work representing defendants in Guantanamo Bay and for his sentencing in numerous child pornography cases.

“While we are playing this stupid game, I am saying that education and lack of education in America is a national crisis,” Sears said. “China is not playing this stupid game. China is interested in complete world domination, and so are Russia and others. That’s what we have to worry about.”

“Our kids haven’t learned,” Sears continued. “Actually, statistics show, Martha, that when they graduate from high school and decide to go to college, more than 60% will need remedial education in their first year.”

Scores in mathematics and reading registered the biggest drop in 50 years, according to data From the National Center for Education Statistics. New data show “learning losses” due to educational interruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including distance learning.

“Children must remain in college for an additional year based on loans taken for work to be completed in high school,” Sears said. “Then let’s stop and think of a remedy. I support school choice. Choose a school now. Our children are in trouble.”
