Chuck Todd Issues ‘Warning’ To Kamala Harris About Political Future

Political analyst Chuck Todd warned former Vice President Kamala Harris about running for California’s governor in 2026.

Harris will decide whether to run for governor of her state by the end of the summer, she spoke to attendees at the Oscars party, according to two individuals with knowledge of the debate, Politico It has been reported. When “press conference” host Conan Nolan asked if Harris would run for position and if she should, Todd said he would be surprised if she did and that it would be challenging for her to win. “Boy, if she did, I would be shocked. If she wanted to run for president in 2028, you can’t run for governor of California in 2026,” Todd said. “So if she were to run for governor, I think she’d made the decision she wasn’t running.”

Todd also highlighted the challenges typical Democrats may face beating the governor after years of one-party rule.

“My warning to traditional Democrats running for governor of California in 2026 is basically a look at the track record of political parties trying to win governor for 20 years in a row,” he said. “Don’t that happen too often? And this is the 16th consecutive year of democratic governance in California. I think it’s the longest, going back nearly 100 years.”

Todd also argued that Harris’ position as a powerful politician for many years could work against her if she ran for governor.

“I think the governor is one place where voters don’t always vote for the colour of their jerseys, and voters are looking for someone from outside,” the political analyst said. “And I think Harris is the former vice president, former U.S. Senator, and former district attorney in San Francisco. How is she selling the change?

“So I’m not looking at the path for her. I could see outside Democrats able to send a message to this. I think it’s a difficult place to be with her,” he added. “If I’m giving her advice, I’ll tell her: Throw yourself into the rebuilding of LA and join the LA Olympic Committee. I’ll be back in 2030 or 2032 after several years of politics.”

Harris eventually lost all seven swing states and voted popularly for President Donald Trump in November. When she ran for president in 2020, she only won 844 votes in the Democratic primary, earning Zero Representative in the process. According to Election data has been archived.

Political analyst Mark Halperin claimed in December that he would face a difficult battle, whether Harris runs for president again or enters the California governor race.

“I think it’s her chance[s] Being governor of California is greater than a Democratic candidate, but her challenge is because her weakness.

“So I think she might give it a try, but I think she’ll be surprised at how tough it is, and finally, I don’t know if she wants to be California governor,” he continued. “It’s not a great job right now, so why did she risk running and losing, and if she wins, she’ll get a job. I’m really not sure.”
