Ciscomani supports the Fort Huachuca proposal for a new Space Force assignment

Support for Fort Huachuca’s Military Expansion

In Cochise County, Arizona, U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani is backing Fort Huachuca as the Air Force seeks to develop new space squadrons and mission systems to bolster military capabilities in space.

The Air Force recently provided insights into the selection process to Ciscomani’s office. Fort Huachuca is among four sites nationwide under consideration. This mission aims to establish new units within the U.S. Space Force to enhance operations and tracking systems.

“Southern Arizona stands out as a hub for American astronomical sciences,” Ciscomani noted, highlighting its strategic advantages in aviation and space operations, including geographic benefits and strong community support. “Fort Huachuca offers unmatched airspace and technical resources, making it an ideal candidate for advancing the Air and Space Force initiatives.”

A briefing on July 8 detailed the criteria and timeline for site evaluations, with a final decision anticipated following thorough analysis.

Local officials are also in favor of introducing this new mission to Sierra Vista. Dr. Randy Gross, associated with Fort Huachuca, stated that selecting the site for this U.S. Space Force mission would position Sierra Vista and neighboring areas favorably within the growing space economy.

Fort Huachuca, located in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, already plays a vital role in military training and intelligence operations. Ciscomani reiterated his commitment to advocating for the installation, particularly for the numerous veterans and military families residing in southern Arizona.

Additionally, Arizona’s District 6 is home to the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, another key player in national security efforts.
