YUMA, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – The city of Yuma officially welcomes a new police chief.
His family, dressed in full regalia, attended.Yuma’s new police chief was sworn in by Judge James Coyle.
The city council chambers were filled with police officers, citizens and well-wishers.
Thomas Garrity says that after months of learning the ropes at the police station, “everything comes to mind”.
Tonight’s ceremony is the culmination of emotion and hard work.
Police Chief Garrity said, “The police station was useful to me. It taught me about the culture of the police station and introduced me to members of the community.”


Other items of interest on the agenda included a presentation from the Yuma Regional Medical Center and an overview of its current status.
One concern is what happens after Title 42 ends and the challenges that may arise.
Yuma Regional Medical Center CEO Bob Trenschel said: I think there is a bit of concern going into May to mid-May, but I was reading information from the DHS Secretary that they were expecting a further surge at that point. “
The well-traveled road will be somewhat improved.
