YUMA, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – Colorado River State Historic Park and the Yuma Ace Vintage Baseball Club host a vintage baseball tournament.
According to a press release, the tournament will take place at the park on Saturday, March 11 from 9am to 3:30pm. Vintage baseball teams from across Arizona flock to Yuma for tournaments.
The teams participating in the tournament are as follows.
- Yuma Ace
- Higley Haymakers (Phoenix)
- mesa miners
- Phoenix Senators
- Tucson Saguaros
- bisby black sox
- Peoria Smelter
Park manager Tammy Snook said: “It’s been great to partner with them to bring this fun event to the Yuma community.”
However, the rules and regulations of vintage baseball games are different from modern baseball.
“We use wooden bats. Gloves are not allowed. You can catch the ball on the bounce and get an out,” said Darci Peralta, organizer and captain of the Yuma Aces. A bystander can catch the ball and get an out.”
