Clay Travis Anticipates More Developments Following Appeals Court Decision on Trump’s Fine

Clay Travis Voices Confidence in Trump’s Legal Battles

On Thursday, Clay Travis expressed his belief on Fox News that he would secure more courtroom victories for former President Donald Trump. This comes after the New York Court of Appeals declared the $515 million civil fraud penalty imposed on Trump as excessive. Initially, Judge Arthur Ngoron had ordered Trump to pay $355 million in a case brought by New York Attorney General Leticia James, concerning allegedly inflated net worth.

During his appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Travis suggested that this ruling might pave the way for further reversals. He remarked, “If you’re a fan of outlets like MSNBC or CNN, you often hear, ‘Oh, we finally have him.’ But Trump continues to achieve wins, and, honestly, I credit the judges. It certainly took too long for this decision to come about. Moving forward, the 34 felony charges brought by Alvin Bragg should be dismissed, alongside the controversial E. Jean Carroll verdict, which also needs to be appealed.”

In 2023, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg secured a significant victory by charging Trump with 34 felony counts related to business records. This case revolves around a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

On another front, E. Jean Carroll, a former Elle writer, accused Trump of rape and defamation. A judge found Trump liable for battery and defamation in May 2023, ultimately awarding Carroll $5 million, while dismissing her rape claim as “a hoax and lie.” Additionally, in January 2024, a second judgment ordered Trump to pay Carroll $83.3 million in a different case.

Travis suggested that James might eventually face her own legal troubles. “Trump is already in the White House, and he’s amassing a series of legal victories that are unprecedented. We’re all waiting for Leticia James to be held accountable for her mortgage fraud,” he said.

Meanwhile, federal investigators have reportedly begun looking into James for allegedly manipulating mortgage records to obtain better loan conditions. Attorney General Pam Bondy has enlisted Ed Martin to lead an inquiry into James and Democratic Senator Adam Schiff from California. The Justice Department is also assessing whether James infringed upon Trump’s civil rights by pursuing this case.
