Clay Travis: ‘I feel sorry for Alabama fans having to compete with Tennessee’

Clay Travis of Outkick, a well-known University of Tennessee fan, has always been one of the most opinionated people in sports media.

During Travis' weekly appearance Next LiveWhile he rooted for the Volunteers, he criticized the Alabama Crimson Tide.

“Do you know who the leading candidate for the No. 1 quarterback spot in 2026 is?” Travis asked, pointing out the fact that Tennessee has recruited even more elite-level quarterbacks than Alabama has over the past few cycles.

“We're going to have three straight first-round quarterbacks, and I feel really bad for Alabama fans having to compete with Tennessee,” Travis joked, eliciting laughs from the Next Round crew, who noted that Tennessee has only beaten Alabama once in the past 16 years.

“With Nick Saban gone, I think your program lost all meaning,” Travis said. “In all fairness, you're all a basketball school now. Congratulations! Get out of here, Kentucky. The Crimson Tide gave up football. They decided to become a basketball school. I didn't expect it, but I appreciate it.”
