Democrats have lowered new records among Americans, reaching a 29% favorable rating, according to a CNN poll conducted by SSRS.
in CNN/SSRS Opinion survey From March 6-9, 1,206 respondents were asked about their opinions on both Republican and Democrat parties, with a sampling error margin of +/- 3.3 across respondents. Data shows that democratic favors have declined, reducing an astounding 20 points since January 2021.
According to a CNN vote dating back to 1992, Democrats’ current support ratings have hit a record low. Democrats’ disapproval has been marked by within the party, with only 63% of Democrats and democratic independences who approved the party have fallen nine points since January and 18 points since the start of the Biden-Harris administration.
Data shows that between 52% and 48% of adults handed over to Democrats say party leaders are currently leading Democrats in the wrong direction. An investigation was conducted before some Senate Democrats supported the GOP-led spending bill Friday evening, but it began to spread among lawmakers in sought for Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer to be replaced.

“Look at the Democrats’ figures here. 27% are positive, more than doubled, and 55% are negative,” Kornacki said. “This is what has happened to Democrats since the election.”

“One thing to note about this for Democrats is a lot of its negative ratings, coming from Democrats themselves, many of which come from Democrats who say the party is too supportive in their views with Donald Trump,” Kornacki added.
Since Trump’s November victory, Democrats have struggled to delay one unified message and leader ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Some suggest that the party is not focused sufficiently on certain policies prior to the election, while others argued that the issue is not about policy, but more about the issue within the parties’ “messaging” issue.
When respondents to the CNN/SSRS polls were asked to name Democratic leaders, they felt that the party was the “best reflection,” more than 30% did not name MPs accordingly.
“There’s no one there,” one respondent said. “That’s the problem.”
Of those who wrote by name, 10% chose Democrat New York State Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 9% chose former vice president Kamala Harris, 8% chose Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, and 6% of minority leader Hakeem Jeffries. Additionally, 4% have nominated President Barack Obama and Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett, respectively, while 2% have written for Schumer along with several other names.
In particular, Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who was chosen to give the party’s joint speech to Trump’s joint speech on March 4, received only a positive rating of 13% among respondents. Additionally, 14% held a disadvantageous view, while 52% said they had never heard of her.
The data also shows Republicans with a 36% favorable rating, with 79% of Republicans and GOP-Laning independents taking a positive view of the party.
