CNN’s Scott Jennings Dumps Cold Water On Dem Strategist’s Claim About GOP Opposing IVF

CNN's Scott Jennings on Friday pushed back against Democratic strategist Maria Cardona, who claims that Republicans are opposed to in vitro fertilization (IVF) because they voted against the Senate bill.

In June, the Senate passed the IVF Rights Act, but all but two Republicans voted against it because GOP senators were drafting their own competing bill on the issue. According to Speaking to The Associated Press, the panel appeared on “The Lead with Jake Tapper” to discuss the Republican position on the issue, but Jennings intervened after Cardona asked why Republicans voted “no” on the bill. “They didn't vote no. Wait, let me just say this: The Senate vote was a sham vote that was fabricated by Democrats so that someone could get on TV at this time and fabricate a story about the Senate vote. That's it,” Jennings said.

“There is not a single Republican, from Donald Trump to candidates for the Senate, House or any other level, who is against IVF,” Jennings continued. “They're all running on Trump's platform, which is, 'We're Republicans, we support families, and this technology helps people have families.' And that's it. Everything else Democrats are saying about IVF is a myth, a scare tactic. I don't think it's going to work.”

The debate over IVF has intensified since the Alabama Supreme Court ruled in February that frozen embryos are “ex utero fetuses.” In response, the Alabama House and Senate passed bills to protect the medical procedure.
