CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings said Wednesday night that Democrats should stop hiding their progressive policies after criticizing the record of Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
Jennings appeared with the panel on “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer” when CNN host Wolf Blitzer questioned Jennings, a senior political commentator, about former President Donald Trump's characterization of Democratic presidential candidates, specifically Waltz, as “too liberal.” Following footage of Minnesota Democratic Sen. Tina Smith calling Trump's comments “laughable,” Blitzer asked Jennings for her thoughts on her comments. (RELATED: 'Evil man': Business owners slam Gov. Tim Walz)
“No, this is no laughing matter, because this is true. I don't understand why they're resisting it. Democrats wanted to be liberal. They thought they were leaning progressive. But now I have Democrats on TV saying, 'No, no, we're actually conservative,'” Jennings said. “Kamala Harris said she's going to get tougher on the border. Walz said she's going to protect the Second Amendment. It's like all of a sudden Democrats want to run as Republicans.”
“The truth is, they're liberal and progressive. The record supports that, the statements support that, the words that come out of Kamala Harris' mouth that you can examine on videotape support that. And I think Democrats should be who they are and not always try to hide that, Wolf,” Jennings concluded.

In recent weeks, Harris' team has been grilled by reporters about her frequent shifts in stance on certain issues, including police budget cuts, Medicare and fracking. Harris joined President Joe Biden's campaign after being nominated as his running mate in 2020, and it's notable that she has shifted some of her policy positions instead of sticking to the policy positions she took during the 2020 presidential campaign.
Walz's record has also been highlighted by Harris' announcement earlier this week that she will be his running mate. As the Democratic governor of Minnesota, Walz has taken far-left stances on transgender minors, illegal immigration and abortion. Signed A bill to issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants in the state will be passed in March 2023.
