Coconino Beats Mingus On Homecoming, 49-12 Friday – KAFF News – Flagstaff

The Coconino Panthers defeated Mingus 49-12 in Homecoming last Friday and are gaining momentum heading into Friday’s big game in Prescott. The Panthers got off to a quick start, taking a 28-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Senior QB Colton Buckingham was 8-of-10 for 180 yards, two touchdown passes, and two touchdowns and 66 yards rushing. Senior running back Fernando Ramirez also had a strong game. Noble Young Black Goat had his best game of the season with 11 carries for 133 yards and three touchdowns, and five catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Coconino improved to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the region. If Prescott wins Friday night, they will be regional champions. If Coconino and Flagstaff defeat Prescott and Bradshaw Mountain, respectively, the Flagstaff City Championship will clinch a share of the regional title. That game will be played at Coconino on Friday, November 8th.
