Coconino has been 8-2 against Mohab since April 2019 and has the opportunity to expand its advantage on Monday. Coconino will try Mojave at 3:45pm. Both teams enter this with a heel of big wins.
Coconino cannot worry about going out to Mojave. They hit the shadow of cactus at home, which up until that point was dominant in their field. Coconino’s pitcher stepped up to Shadows, handcactus on Saturday with a 11-0 shutout. This victory was a familiar territory for the Panthers.

Kaitlyn Tso made a splash wherever he plays. She looked comfortable on the mound and didn’t allow a single-gain run while hitting nine innings with five or more innings pitching. She was consistent for a while. She has not given up on more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She also grew on the plate, 2-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. These two doubles gave her a new career best.
In other batting news, Sophie Monsman and Danica Khan dealt most of the damage with the plate. Monsmann scored two runs, one triple and two RBIs, three perfect 3-3, while Kahn scored two runs and stole two bases 2-2. Additionally, Khan posted three RBIs in April 2024.
Coconino hits left and right, and ended the game with an average batting .433. The Cactus Shadow posted an average batting of .167, which made them easily surpass their division opponents.
Meanwhile, it was the bird battle that Mojave challenged Flagstaff on Saturday. Mohave was a clear winner with Flagstaff 16-6 margin.
Audrina Martinez spent all five innings played on the mound, and it’s clear why.
On the plate, Mojave ran Alyssa Donegan and Gabby Fernandez into the wild. Donegan scored a perfect 3-3 with one home run, three RBIs and four RBIs, while Fernandez fired two home runs and three RBIs. Jahnezz Jones was another important player, riding the base on all four plate appearances and earning three runs.
Coconino pushed their record 13-4 with the victory. The victory was thanks to their hit performances on that stretch. As for Mohave, they now have a 6-5 victory record.
Monday’s game may come up with whether the pitchers have better control over the ball. Coconino was a smart hit this season, earning an average OBP .437. However, it’s not like Mohave’s struggle in that division, as it averages .458. Both teams are extremely capable at the plate, so fans need to be ready for an impressive hit performance.
Coconino won the decisive 12-0 victory over Mojave in their previous matchup in April 2024. The team doesn’t have a home field advantage this time, so a rematch may be a little difficult for Coconino. See if the venue changes make a difference.
