Coconino Skates Past Mingus with Ease

Coconino has already won two in a row (outscoring opponents by an average of 25 points) and on Friday won its third straight. They had a huge 49-12 victory over the Mingus Marauders. Friday’s blowout loss was nothing new, considering the Panthers have won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Coconino to victory were Colton Buckingham and Fernando Ramirez. Buckingham had 66 yards rushing and two touchdowns on just seven carries, while Ramirez had 133 yards rushing and three touchdowns on just 11 carries. Ramirez has been in the spotlight lately, scoring at least two rushing touchdowns in his past three appearances. Noble Young Black Goat was responsible for keeping the secondary busy, gaining 161 receiving yards.

Coconino has been on a roll lately, winning four of their last five games, a nice improvement on their 5-3 record this season. As for Mingus, he now has 1 win and 7 losses after losing 4 straight.

Both teams will have to travel on the road for their upcoming games. Coconino heads to face Prescott on Friday at 7 p.m. Prescott enters this game on a four-game winning streak at home, so Coconino will have to stop a team with momentum. As for Mingus, he will be on the road to face Lee Williams on Friday at 7 p.m. Mingus will face Lee Williams at the right time, as the latter is on a six-fight losing streak.
