LOL…this is awesome.
New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter appeared on “The Herd” on Monday to talk baseball with sports personality Colin Cowherd. Things started out well, but then Jeter berated Cowherd, leaving Cowherd feeling embarrassed.
While discussing Jeter's major league career, Cowherd mistakenly placed Jeter in the era of Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, thus aging Jeter.
It all started with a conversation focused on the MLB All-Star Game, specifically the rising star of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Paul SkenesIn only his rookie season in the major leagues, Skenes was named the National League starting pitcher for the 2024 edition of the Midsummer Classic.
What stands out most about Skenes is the fact that he bowls extremely hot and can consistently throw the ball around 100 metres. 100 miles per hourWith that in mind, Cowherd brought up Nolan Ryan, who was also known for his speed, and for some reason, Cowherd thought Jeter played in the same era as Ryan. Spoiler alert: he didn't.
Jeter played 20 seasons in the MLB, all with the Yankees, beginning in 1996, when he won the Rookie of the Year award.
Ryan is nearly 30 years older than Jeter, having not made his major league debut until 1966, but to his own credit he managed to stick around until 1993.
This was truly a mistake, and Jeter placed the blame squarely on Cowherd.
