“Five” Fox panelists Jesse Watters and Judge Johnny Piro stopped Democratic strategist Jessica Tarloff on Tuesday evening, saying that President Donald Trump’s tariffs in Canada would benefit Americans after Tarloff said he was “destroying” America.
Trump took the truth on Tuesday, announcing a new wave of tariffs on Canada, doubling the 25% Canadian fees for steel and aluminum announced on Wednesday. Regarding the “Five,” Tarloff opposed tariffs and said the Republican spending bill would add “$7 trillion to the deficit.”
“Even the president’s strongest allies don’t like these tariffs. They may think it’s possible to use them at a smaller level, 5%, 10%, but tariff whiplash is destroying us. You see tanking in the market. I thought Peter Doucy had a big point today that our own Peter Doucy said, ‘I want federal workers to adopt the acquisition,'” Tarloff said. “They want them to quit, but they’re sinking their retirement accounts.”
On Wednesday, as Tarlov said, an Associated Press reporter asked White House spokesman Karoline Leavitt if he had previously “paid the tariffs.”
“Then she went to Trumpians. She says, “I think it’s a shame that you’re trying to test my knowledge of economics.” Test your knowledge about economics, Jesse [Watters]. Are tariffs taxes on American consumers? ” asked Tarloff.
“If there’s tariffs on the product, Jessica, that’s about enriching American workers because they buy Americans,” Watters said. “You bring American plants back to this country. That’s the point, and all the presidents did it. Usually you’re getting your job back.”
Watters listed tariffs from the former president. He said these tariffs helped Americans. (Related: Scott Bescent says tariffs will go up for leaders who behave like “Nukskull” Justin Trudeau)
clock:
“Did you know that Richard Nixon started the pickup truck industry in this country for tariffs on Europeans? Did you know that Reagan slapped tariffs in Japan and caused a semiconductor renaissance in this country?” asked Watters.
“He’s protecting American industry,” Pillo jumped in. That’s part of the problem. Manufacturing needs to be brought into this country, and countries are buckling. Large companies are buckling. They are talking about coming here because they don’t want to be taxed. ”
Trump’s pushback against Canada began in February after him signature An executive order to implement additional 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico and 10% tariffs on imports from China. But both Mexican and Canadian leaders folded up a few days later, saying it would help secure the border and stopped tariffs for a month.
On March 3, Trump continued to cite how he handled immigration and fentanyl, saying that he “doesn’t have rooms left” due to further negotiations or delays over tariffs against Mexico, Canada or China.
“This will benefit American workers, American manufacturing, domestic production. It’s going to keep the work going. So stop at tariffs. That’s the leverage we need to protect,” Piro said.
Tarloff was able to see Trump jumping in saying “they need to stop it with tariffs.” I’m glad he did what he did in Canada. ” Tarloff kept pushing Fox panelists. He said the only reason she was OK with Trump’s pushback in Canada is that she has “enough money to survive it.”
“That’s not the point! Look, it’ll float all the boats. Come on, Jessica,” Piro said. “The truth is, this is something that benefits all Americans when they have more jobs here and we have all sorts of diplomatic money in this country. We saw it at a press conference, a $50 trillion press conference like a day. They can’t wait to come here.”
“You know, now we’re trying to wipe out Joe Biden’s mess. Ok? A four-year disaster that we have to clean up. He can do what Joe Biden did, just float or the other presidents are doing,” Piro added. “He said, ‘I’m going to clean up this mess. It’s not an easy job. I’m going to hit, but I’m going to get the business back.” And he does. ”
