Vanderbilt’s Commodore Sees a Turnaround
Many fans recall Vanderbilt’s Commodore as a basement dweller in college football, but this season has brought a breath of fresh air.
In 2024, the Commodores finally started to show promise, notching early wins against Alabama, which, some would say, are the best in the program’s history. This marks the first winning season for Vanderbilt in over ten years.
After a frustrating previous year battling against Auburn, Pavia turned things around, defeating both Alabama and Auburn in the same season, a significant feat for the Commodores.
Pavia has often been viewed as a game-changer in the Yellowhammer State, but now he’s setting his sights on Vanderbilt’s biggest rivals at home.
In a recent chat on Bussin with the Boys, Pavia laid out ambitious goals for his final year, aiming to establish a new reputation for Vanderbilt football.

“Vanderbilt plans to take on Tennessee consistently from this year forward,” Pavia stated, taking a jab at the Volunteers. “We’re going to make a mark in college football. People want to come to Nashville, but they should choose Vanderbilt.”
Pavia also mentioned the surge in NIL funding at Vanderbilt, expressing that if they perform well this year, it might attract top recruits.
Interestingly, he noted that he has received lucrative offers from SEC programs urging him to transfer but decided to stay put at Vanderbilt. I guess he feels strongly about sticking with his team, but only time will tell if that choice pays off. His ambitious vision for the Commodores is certainly noteworthy.
