Community Assists 11-Year-Old California Boy Whose Lemonade Stand Was Stolen

Liam Rader had planned to buy a dirt bike with the money he made from his lemonade stand business, but those plans were thwarted when his stand was reportedly stolen.

The 11-year-old boy from California had been in business for more than a year, but his mother said he went to get supplies one day and a truck showed up and took away his lemonade stand, CBS 8 reported. Reported.

“It was a bit contrived and unfortunate. I think Liam learned a hard lesson that day about leaving his belongings unattended,” Liam's mother, Kelly Leder, told the outlet.

Liam is by all accounts a diligent worker: “He does all sorts of work with his feet, he lifts tables, chairs, anything heavy,” Kelly says.

Liam revealed one bonus he got from the job: “I get to meet new people,” he said. (Related article: Nearly 300-year-old lemon sells for thousands of dollars at auction)

Upon learning of Liam's plight, people in the community rushed to help the boy with his small business. “People in the community have reached out to us offering to replace tables and chairs or donate to his stall. He's been saving up to buy a dirt bike,” Kelly told the outlet.

Thanks to the support from the community, Liam set up a lemonade stand on Friday and handed out free lemonade as a token of appreciation. Many customers made donations, which Liam said he will give to animal shelters.

“I love animals and I don't think any animal should be treated like that. I think every animal should have a chance,” he told the media. Liam also got a dirt bike, something he'd wanted for years.
