One of Alabama's most iconic and delicious brands is expanding.

Governor Kay Ivey made the announcement today. press release Conecuh Sausage is planning a $58 million project to open a second production plant in Andalusia.

Founded in Evergreen in 1947, our hickory smoked sausages are so delicious that we're expanding our brand to meet growing demand.

“Conecu Sausage is a landmark homegrown brand, and it's great to see the company continue to grow and thrive right here in Sweet Home Alabama,” said Governor Ivey.

“This growth project will allow Conecuh Sausage to expand the brand’s reach and bring its unique Alabama flavor to even more kitchens.”

Family-owned and operated, Conecuh's products are sold through its online store, as well as local grocery stores, national retailers and independent distribution companies.

“While remaining in Alabama, we hope to join the Andalusian community and add jobs and growth to the local economy. We are expanding our production facilities to serve our loyal customers and We are excited about the opportunity to increase our distribution,” owners John Crum Sessions and his son John Henry Sessions said in a joint statement.

The company reportedly scouted multiple locations in the Midwest to build a new facility before staying in Alabama and landing in Andalusia.

This project will create 110 jobs in the Andalusian economy and significant investment in Covington County.

“The Conecu Sausage expansion project will have a significant economic impact on the Andalusia region while enabling the company's continued growth,” said Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair.

“We are pleased that we have decided to expand our manufacturing footprint in South Alabama rather than going to another state,” McNair concluded.

“I think for many years many of us have taken pride in being neighbors of Conecuh County, home of Conecuh Sausage. And now we are proud to welcome Conecuh Sausage and the Sessions family to our county. We are honored to do this,” said Covington County Commission Chairman Greg White.

“The County Commission is committed to doing everything possible to ensure the best conditions for Conecu Sausage to expand into Covington County.”

Andalusia Mayor Earl Johnson is thrilled that the legendary company has chosen his city to expand.

“Today is an exciting and important day for the city of Andalusia. We have worked for decades to prepare for when companies like Conecuh Sausage are ready to set up here. We are grateful to the Sessions family for their trust and investment here,” Johnson said.

The original store in Conecuh County will also remain open.
