Only what we need… the bigger dad government!
ACC commissioners, Big 12, Big Ten and SEC conference attended Interview On Thursday, Fox News host Bret Baier and the four are calling for more regulations and government intervention regarding names, images and likeness (nil).
Currently, university sphere leaders are in the waiting process when it is possible to approve changes made to potential settlements in regards to California judges. But while that continued, the commissioner and athletic director began visiting Washington, D.C. on Wednesday to meet with Congress. Or join in some good old fashion lobbying, which we should say.
What staff are looking for is the NIL federal guidelines to approach university track and field that involve revenue sharing.
In an interview with Bret Baier, ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yorkmark, Big Ten Commisterer Tony Petitti and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey discussed the “future of university sports” and why standards are needed across the country.
“The amount of laws passed at the state level makes it extremely difficult to regulate and compete nationwide,” Petitti said. “When someone doesn’t like the judgment that comes from the NCAA, they fall into lawsuits. Those rules will be abolished and then they’ll come back to the beginning. I hope we’ve done something with the settlement. Sankey pointed out that 50 states, with 50 different sets of law, do not work in college athletics.
“To hold the College World Series, to hold the college football playoffs and have a national championship, you have to have national standards,” Sankey said. “This system doesn’t work with 50 different approaches. This is what’s happening through the state laws that are manufactured and adopted. We also face a variety of litigation efforts, which need to be settled.”
Yorkmark said governing Nir was “very important.”
“From where I sit today, it’s very important that the federal government preemption has a standardized platform to oversee and govern the nil,” Yomark said. “Today, 34 states see that differently, but they’re relatively unruly.”
Phillips made his thoughts short and sweet.
“We need the help of Parliament and national law.”
The meeting committee members argue @bretbaier Why Congress is needed to regulate other rules.

I understand why commissioners want regulation, but honestly, anything the government touches… well… you know.
