Adam Seafe faces murder charges after confessing in multiple interviews to killing Rev. William Schenemann in New River.
On July 18, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office confirmed Seafe had been transferred from Sedona, where he was initially arrested on burglary charges.
Concerning Schenemann’s death on April 28, officials described it as gruesome—his body was reportedly found in a position suggesting crucifixion, with arms outstretched.
Investigators connected Seafe to the crime through evidence discovered at Schenemann’s home, a robbery scene, and belongings found in Seafe’s backpack and stolen vehicle.
Additionally, Seafe is accused of breaking into a second residence in Sedona.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office remarked on the incident, stating, “Seafe is accused of taking the life of local pastor William Bill Schenemann in a tragic event that has profoundly affected the New River community.”
Sheriff Jerry Sheridan labeled the crime as “disturbing,” noting its significant impact on the victim’s family and congregation.
A video has been released showcasing Seafe being booked into jail.
The judge has charged Seafe with multiple offenses, including first-degree murder and attempted robbery, among others. He is currently held at the Maricopa County Jail with a bond set at $10,250,000.
