Cottonwood man accused of kidnapping, other offenses following Clarkdale school incident: PD

Clarkdale police say they were arrested in connection with an incident that took place at a local school on March 24th.

What we know:

In a statement released on March 25th, Clarkdale police identified the person arrested as 22-year-old Mika Andrew Hines of Cottonwood. They say Hines was identified through hints from the public.

The March 24 incident occurred at Clarkdale Jerome School.

Clarkdale is the Yabapai County community located about 107 miles north of downtown Phoenix. Cottonwood is next to Clarkdale.

As mentioned above, the incident occurred on March 24th.

Clarkdale Jerome School District School District Websitethe school was placed under shelter for men who were interacting with students on campus.

What the investigator said:

“The officers contacted Hines for interviews. Hines confessed to jumping to the fence to access the school’s campus, hiding in the girl’s toilet in the background, documenting students who entered the toilet and grabbing the child with their arms. The victims were able to read some of the statement.

Investigators said Hines was captured on surveillance cameras.

Police praised the public members for “sharing and responding to social media posts widely.” They also believe in “the witness and victim who were able to remember quite a bit of detail about the suspect’s clothing and appearance.”

What’s next:

Police say Hein is accused of two counts of tricks, two counts of voyeurism, two secret records, two counts of worse assault on minors, one trespassing and one of intervention with educational institutions.

Meanwhile, officials from the Clarkdale Jerome School District say a “information family and community meeting” will be held at the school’s gym at 5:30pm on March 25th to discuss the incident. Officers Clarkdale say officers will also be at the meeting.
