Sedona’s Robbery

Sedona officials responded to an ongoing robbery report at 9:50am on Tuesday, April 29th. The owner of the house in the 100 block of Rufous Lane called 911 and reported that he could see the male subjects.

Neighbors in the area said the identified suspect at the time was a white man wearing a long white-sleeved shirt and a cowboy hat and a bright blue short sleeve shirt over a black jogger pants. The suspect entered the area at 9:34am and left at 9:53am, carrying bolt cutters and driving a red four-door truck with a full cover on the truck bed.

According to Sedona Patrol CMDR. Christopher Dowell discovered Sedona police officers were driving a truck Seafe on the afternoon of April 29, prompting them to track southbound vehicles on the state’s Route 179, leaving city restrictions in the city of Sedona. While chasing, Seafe was weaving traffic around the vehicle, colliding with other drivers, causing minor damage to the vehicle, Dowell said. Sedona officials have concluded their pursuit due to public safety considerations.

Seafe is drawn into the Yabapai Point Trailhead and escapes into the wilderness. While officers were checking the abandoned vehicle registration, Sedona police determined it had been stolen from Cave Creek.

Dowell said the MCSO notified Sedona police on the morning of April 30 that Sheafe could be linked to the aggressive Schonemann murder.

On April 30th, around 6:22pm, Sedona officials responded to a reported robbery at a home registered as a short-term rental in Gambel Lane, Dowell said. Rufous Lane is parallel to the south and south of Gambel Lane in the chapel area.

A Gambel Lane homeowner, who was remotely monitoring security cameras, witnessed Seafe running through items in his garage. His appearance coincided with the appearance of a suspect in a similar robber the day before at Rufs Lane.

Arrested by SPD

Sedona police initially issued a Knicksl alert to the area at 7:58pm on Wednesday, April 30th, warning that the suspect was in the area. At the time, the suspect was said to have been white, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 6 feet 2 inches tall, short hair, blue shirt, black pants and a potential neck tattoo.

When Sedona officials arrived minutes later, Seafe had fled, Dowell said. Sedona police quickly established the boundaries, carried out a massive search effort, and called for additional officers for Seafe’s previous history with law enforcement. SPD’s Quick Response Team, Verde Valley Regional SWAT Team, Cottonwood Police Station drone operators and two CPD K-9 support units responded.

Seafe is believed to be camping in the area, and police found the campsite during a search. At about 9:20pm, Seafe was hidden by a thick brush by members of QRT, Dowell said.

He tried to escape again, leading officers and agents in long-legged pursuits through the rugged topography of the Coconino National Forest to the north and east of the residential area.

Seafe was eventually tracked down to a residential area by a drone. There, Sedona officials were safely detained using Taser with the assistance of Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies.
